In his latest podcast, Mark Rushton features three new pieces of ambient and electronica music that are mixed together. The MP3 download can be obtained via podcast.markrushton.com

The first two tracks are relatively shorter pieces built on arpeggios, multiple delays, and aftertouch. They are both fully improvised one-takes that have been edited for length. The second piece has a much grander sound than the first.

The third piece is much longer, almost 9 minutes in length. It's built upon numerous layered and edited improvisations. It's more of a moody ambient/techno piece, and by the middle of the composition it just sort of floats off with various bits surfacing every so often.

This recording is very much in the vein of meditation music, or very dreamy ambient/electronica.

The "Three New Pieces" were recorded and mixed at East Highlands Studio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, during January 2007. Personnel involved include Mark Rushton on keyboard, software, loops, editing, and production. Isabel Rushton contributes a keyboard loop on the third piece.

Rushton's podcasts have received over 100,000 downloads worldwide since late 2004. They can be heard on iTunes, Odeo, via RSS syndication feed, or directly at podcast.markrushton.com

Rushton's commercial recordings include 2005's "Hum And Drift", available on CD and digital download, and 2004's "The Driver's Companion". A new album of beat-driven chill out electronica is expected to be released in early 2007. More information can be obtained at markrushton.com
