Wrigleyville, Chicago, IL – Friday morning, January 19th, the staff of Wrigleyville Sports, a retailer of licensed and customized team apparel and novelty items, will load an entire store’s worth of merchandise into a truck and make the trek down to the Chicago Hilton.

Once there, they will begin the task of creating a temporary, full service retail location to service attendees of the 2007 Cubs Convention. The convention, which opens its doors at 3 PM on Friday, runs through Sunday. “Convention goers will find just about anything they could normally find at our store across the street from Wrigley Field,” said Trey Carlstrom, a member of the Wrigleyville Sports team. “Jerseys, t-shirts, hats, wristbands – you name it, we’ll have it there at the Cubs Convention store.”

The annual convention marks the date when the gears begin to turn for the 2007 baseball season. Many notable current players will be attending this year’s convention, including newly signed star and former free agent, Alfonso Soriano, new manager, Lou Pinella, Carlos Zambrano, Mark Prior, Kerry Wood, and Michael Barrett, just to name a few. Former players and fan favorites scheduled to attend include Mark Grace, Ryne Sandburg, Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, Fergie Jenkins, and Billy Williams, among many, many others.

“It’s an exciting event. You get to see so many of your favorite players, get autographs, and meet other fans who love the team as much as we do. Plus, you get to do a little shopping for team items you won’t find in many stores.”
