Which comes first: Weight Loss or Life? Live Online Interview explores Living Life on Purpose

CHARLES TOWN, WEST VIRGINIA: Every year, millions seek to lose weight. Dr. Ted Morter III suggests that taking an active role in making decisions in six essential areas of life: what you eat, what you drink, how you exercise, how you rest, what you breathe and what you think can help people live a more purposeful life.

HealthyWealthynWise.com's Passion Series presents Dr. Morter, who will be speaking to host Janet Attwood on the topic of Living Life with Purpose on Tuesday January 23, 2007 at 8 PM Eastern / 5 PM Pacific.

He encourages people to routinely assess your feelings. Are you feeling buoyant or blue, delighted or depressed. Do you understand or know why? Do your feelings have a physiological reason? (Do you have a vitamin or mineral deficiency? Are you getting enough sleep?) These are clues that may be key to losing weight.

Oprah and others have touted that dealing with their emotional baggage has helped them solve the yo-yo dieting and weight management issues and kept the weight off. Dr. Morter says negative feelings can interfere with health as well as living life on purpose.

“How you do anything is how you do everything," says Dr. Ted. For example, if a person routinely overeats when feeling stressed, this can also have a negative impact upon the physical body, relationships, financial and other aspects of life.

Also, what people think about, they will bring about. In other words, when we spend time focused upon lack of food, this focus upon starvation leads to obsession which leads back to overeating. So whatever we think about will come about eventually… and expand in our lives. However, the opposite is also true. When we focus upon abundance and gratitude, our lives reflect that back to us.

A true life story… A group of women were meeting together. The weather outside was snowing. One woman arrived after riding a bicycle for an hour. All of the other women got out of their cars and arrived at the front door complaining about the weather. The hostess noted that the only woman in the room who was radiant, shiny and happy was the woman who had driven her bicycle to the meeting. While riding, the woman noticed that every snowflake was unique, she enjoyed the wind on her face and in her hair, and she gave thanks for the beautiful trees along the way. Not only did she activate happy chemicals (endorphins) by riding the bicycle (exercise), but her attitude and focus added to her enjoyment.
