Web Wilson’s first antique hardware auction of 2007 is set to open for bidding on Saturday, January 27th. This will be the debut of the new and innovative "Big Lots" auction concept.

This will be a very special event as there will be only 10 lots offered, and each lot will consist of many pieces, so every high bidder will win a box full—and maybe several boxes full—of fine old builders’ hardware.

The highlight of the sale is a Corbin Treasure Chest. This is a multi-drawer, antique walnut cabinet filled with choice hardware made by the P.F. Corbin Company, mostly dating from the late 19th Century. Each drawer is filled with collector quality goodies that include entry plates and knobs, fine old keyhole escutcheons, large and fancy window sash locks, hard to find bin pulls, a blue enamel door plate, rosettes, early and rare advertising, and a figural, jumbo size, silver plated finger plate.

Another important lot will feature more than 50 examples of Chicago hardware that includes knobs, and in many cases, matching door plates. Included with all the hardware is an 1895 copy of the Chicago Hardware Company catalog and other interesting items relating to builders’ hardware in the windy city.

The "Big Lots" auction will include the entire contents of a collector’s basement, a group of A.G. Newman hardware, all the unsold lots from Auction 51, and several large offerings of quality hardware that are of interest to collectors, dealers, and old house restoration buffs.
