Internationally Acclaimed Producer Jim Sampas Joins Tango Pix to Lead Film, Television and Music Development Initiatives

Tango Pix has announced the appointment of Jim Sampas as Producer and Director of Development. Jim will be responsible for Tango Pix Development initiatives - managing film, television, and music projects. In his role, he will be reaching out to both local, national and international producers, directors, screenwriters, musicians, and writers to identify opportunities to develop commercially viable productions.

Jim will be responsible for opportunity identification, deal development, production and distribution. “Jim’s significant industry experience and his reputation as a highly creative producer on the development side will be a major asset to Tango Pix. Jim will be leading the effort to develop intellectual properties into media properties for Tango Pix, as well as other investors.” said Curt Worden, CEO of Tango Pix.

Jim comes to Tango Pix with an extensive track record of launching commercially successful productions. Jim and his work have been featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition, NPR’s Morning Edition, NPR’s All Things Considered, The Westwood One’s Jim Bohannon Show and US Government’s Voice of America. His work has also received media coverage in leading publications such as MTV News, Rolling Stone Magazine’s Random Notes, Entertainment Weekly, LA Times, Washington Post, Melody Maker, and the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Some of Jim’s production highlights include:

• Kerouac – kicks joy darkness, which focused on Jack Kerouac’s poetry, and featured highly praised musicians, writers and poets such as Johnny Depp, Eddie Vedder, Allen Ginsberg, Michael Stipe, Patti Smith, William S. Burroughs and Matt Dillon.
• Sampas produced Badlands: A Tribute to Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska which the LA Times “effectively honor that aesthetic blueprint in highly intimate performances” of musicians such as Johnny Cash and Ben Harper.
• He was the music supervisor for documentary Condo Painting which the Village Voice called “an amazing soundtrack” by Beck, Philip Glass, Sonic Youth, Morphine, Phish, Danny Elfman and others.
• His most recent work is This Bird Has Flown – A 40th Anniversary Tribute to the Beatle’s Rubber Soul for a lineup that the Washington Post described as “including a bunch of critic’s darlings” of today.
