New Organic Yarn for Hand Knitting Released by Lion Brand Today

January 30, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Anaheim, California - January 30, 2007 - Lion Brand Yarn Company launched a new organic yarn for hand-knitting today at the Craft & Hobby Association convention in Anaheim, California.

The yarn, Lion Brand (R) Organic Cotton, is grown in Peru in 4 natural shades so no dyes are used to produce the subtle colors. The organic cotton is spun into a soft, versatile yarn that can be used for a wide range of projects.

The yarn was developed to address consumer desires to use products that minimize their impact on the environment and are grown without chemicals. There are no pesticides, herbicides or chemical of any kind used in the growing of the yarn. Rather than purchasing fiber, which is the basis for creating hand-knitting yarns, Lion Brand purchases a harvest, so quantities are limited. The naturally occurring shades include Vanilla, a creamy, off-white, Almond, a light, soft golden tan, Bark, a warm, medium brown, and Cypress, a soft, sage green.

The first patterns developed for the yarn include baby garments and a spa set, consisting of face cloths and a bath mit, as well as women's garments.
