One Million Dollars For History Project Reports Goal Not Yet Attained

(PRLEAP.COM) New London, Conn. — The Website http://www.onemilliondollarsforhistory.com launched in late 2006 with a goal to raise $1,000,000.00 within 12 months for the preservation, education and enjoyment of history and historical places reports that so far they have fallen short of expectations.

"The web site http://www.onemilliondollarsforhistory.com have been operative for nearly five months and although short of the goal of raising one million dollars to support history, it’s education and enjoyment the site has gained a large volume of viewers as well as readers of the press releases"— said founder Evan Andriopoulos. "This along with sister website www.onemilliondollarsforpreservation, a site dedicated to discussing issues of re-urbanization, urban renewal and preservation have helped raise awareness of our historic places, the education of students on our history and send waves of interest through the business community" — followed Andriopoulos. "However we must to a level of disappointment report that we are not yet near our target of $1,000,000.00 within 12 months" said an ever enthusiastic Andriopoulos.

The initiative will expand efforts to educate the public about the need for donations to preserve historic places, buildings and offer support to all groups working to make history more enjoyable by offering advertising space on our website www.onemilliondollarsforhistory.com for sale. Proceeds will go to support the mission of onemilliondollarsforhistory.com which is raise needed funds for all things history.

"We created the BLOG to open a dialogue with our viewing audience on issues of preservation including the economics of re-invention and re-urbanization of historic places and the basic happenings of historic value as reported in the news" —said Andriopoulos.

"I firmly believe that our mission designed after the now famous ‘million dollar home page’ will go to a cause that is near and dear to my heart…history and it’s preservation, education and enjoyment" -followed Andriopoulos. "why not do something with the money that will benefit our history and for future generations," said history buff Andriopoulos.

As recently as this past month the story of an 1850s home in New London, Connecticut has been offered for the price of one dollar. The catch?… house has to be moved off the site or the property owner will tear it down. "These types of events are what our mission supports… spread the word and hopefully someone can preserve this little piece of history and future generations can look at this piece of history and see that it was saved from the all too used wrecking ball"—followed Andriopoulos.

The website and our BLOG offer the corporate advertiser a niche opportunity to show their support for our mission. "Our website is offering the advertiser an opportunity to purchase pixels of webspace with the proceeds going to various needy groups, parks, associations and the like, all that support history, in addition they gain press and media coverage as well as goodwill within the consumer and corporate marketplaces"— said Andriopoulos also a re-enactor of the Revolutionary War period. "In the least we hope to bring about greater awareness and a dialogue and we welcome visitors to our site to begin the dialogue or comment on our posts"— said Andriopoulos. "We are now challenging private individuals, large and small companies as well as casinos and others to make a difference"- said Andriopoulos.
