Axiomtek Introduces Fast, Robust And Powerful Network Appliance

April 11, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., April 11, 2005 — AXIOMTEK, a world renowned provider of industrial and embedded systems and components, today announced an extreme networking appliance hardware platform solution. The platform has a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) from a networking performance point of view, and it can be used in a variety of applications including VPN gateways, network bandwidth controllers, SSLs, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and more.

The NA-1801 network appliance platform supports new generation Intel® Pentium® 4 processors (Prescott) with Intel® 875 North Bridge chipsets. The platform supports up to a total of eight Gigabit Ethernet ports and supports extreme data transaction performance in a network layer. Primarily optimized for data communication, the NA-1801 is customizable for varying Ethernet port configurations and combinations, and can be further modified to fit different customer requirements accordingly.

The platform supports a LAN-by-pass feature for abnormal status. It can also support different by-pass levels such as power, BIOS boot, OS and application program failures. To off-load the CPU utilization and speed up the VPN encryption/decryption performance, the NA-1801 platform features one PCI-X 64-bit/66MHz slot for VPN encryption boards or any compatible feature card expansions. The baseboard can further optimize the processor performance through a VPN adapter card hardware engine. The NA-1801 supports DES, Triple-DES, AES encryptions, public key computations and other security protocol operations.
Axiomtek has also embedded powerful enclosure management features, including BIOS redirection to console port, LCM settings, and more, have been implemented so users can keep and manage their data easily. Other optional features such as SMBus EEPROM are available as well as firmware upgrades from software providers.

For system log-ins with monitoring and building control proxy, the NA-1801 has space for a 2.5” hard drive for software porting by third party software solution providers. The baseboard has two serial ATA and two 44-pin IDE connectors, so customers can easily use the serial ATA hard disks internally. The embedded OS can be stored on DOM (Disk on Module) and/or CF (compact flash). Other accessories are available such as a Mini PCI VGA module (AX92101) which can be used through the main board’s Mini-PCI slot to allow customers to use displays when needed.

The platform can be used in harsh environments, and has incredibly higher performance when compared to traditional Pentium 4 platforms. The NA-1801 is available now. For more information, customers can visit Axiomtek’s Web site at www2005.Axiomtek.com.
