RoanokeRapidsLife.com Supports the Troops

A new section on RoanokeRapidsLife.com is dedicated to the men and women in our military. Currently, there are 120,000 military families living in our state, including the National Guard and Reserve.

The new military support page on RoanokeRapidsLife.com provides information and resources for military-connected families in the local area.

Resources are available not only to the sldiers and their families, but for children, employers, and educators. It’s important for local educators and employers to understand the military lifestyle of the “suddenly military”.

The educator’s section provides a variety of resources of understanding the military lifestyle and knowing how to work with families and children of deployed soldiers. There is also a link available to military families and teachers to download Sesame Workshop’s “Talk, Listen, and Connect” video. The video features Elmo and the cast of Sesame Street learning about what happens when a parent mobilizes or deploys.
