From North Reading to Nahant, NORTHSHORE MAGAZINE Reveals Which Pups Make the Hearts of Local Singles Go Pitter-patter

(PRLEAP.COM) (BOSTON) - If you’re single and thinking love bites, you may be on the right track. This Valentine’s Day (or any time of the year), Northshore Magazine reveals the four-legged friends most likely to show you the path to true romance.

Northshore Magazine contributor Stacey Marcus interviewed bachelors and "bachelorettes" from North Reading to Nahant to find out which pups make their hearts go pitter-patter.

According to Marcus, the teeny-weeny breeds may work for Paris Hilton, but all the bachelors she interviewed said they would bolt if a dog jumps out of a pocketbook. As one man put it, "Small yippy dogs are a red flag signaling high-maintenance owners." Instead, think adventure, independence, and fun, such as:
· Chocolate, yellow, or black Labrador retriever
· Soft-coated Wheaten terrier
· Springer spaniel
· Golden retriever

Adds Marcus, some females on the North Shore prefer mutts to purebred but all agree that nothing melts their hearts more than seeing a man being tender with his adorable puppy. The poll favorites included:
· Catahoula, Puli, or any unusual breed
· Mutt (one woman admits, “Mutts show he isn’t looking for perfection.”)
· Pug
· Golden retriever

The winner for both categories? The Golden retriever puppy.

The above informal poll results were included in Northshore Magazine’s Winter/Spring 2007 "Guide to Romance." To schedule an interview with editor Claire McCarthy or writer Stacey Marcus, send an e-mail to media@rmsmg.com.
