Komen Houston Affiliate to Hold 2nd Annual Pink Tie Gala and Luxury Auction

Houston, TX – It’s time to make your plans to be in the pink at the 2nd Susan G. Komen for the Cure Houston Affiliate’s Pink Tie Gala which will be held Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the InterContinental Hotel. The Gala will honor the memory of Michelle Rozzell, who lost her battle with breast cancer in July, 2005. Michelle is the late wife of Scott Rozzell, executive vice President General Counsel and corporate Secretary for CenterPoint Energy. Bob Newhart, legendary comedian, will be the featured entertainment.

Guests will have the opportunity to support the fight against breast cancer by bidding on luxury auction items while enjoying live entertainment, dining and dancing to the tunes of Fried Ice Cream. Some of the unique items include vacation trips to Jamaica, Lake Tahoe and Acapulco and one-of-a kind designed jewelry.

Event chairs are Brenda and Larry Petru, and Cindy and Mike Gatewood. The emcee will be Great Day Houston Host, Whitney Casey. Continuing its ongoing commitment to the Houston community, the presenting sponsor is Kroger Food Stores.

The Komen Houston Affiliate held its first Pink Tie Gala in April 2005 and raised more than $275,000 for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. This year, organizers hope to raise more than $500,000 for cancer research, education, screening and treatment in the Houston Affiliates 7 county service area that includes Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Montgomery and recently added Liberty County.

Sponsorships start at $5,000. Individual tickets for the Gala are $350 per person.
