Cullen’s abc’s Announces a YouTube Group for Preschool Education

The magazine cover featured a YouTube screen with a foil mirror metaphorically announcing the time is now for user-created media. Now among all the funny, quirky, and unusual user-created videos on YouTube, there is a serious place for those involved in educating and nurturing preschoolers. Cullen’s abc’s Show & Tell group (http://youtube.com/group/cullensabc) is a place that “You” involved with preschoolers can easily share your thoughts and find new ideas.

“YouTube is being used by so many people for so many reasons other than education, I felt educators were missing out,” states Cullen Wood of Cullen’s abc’s. “YouTube does not even have an education category yet, which is something I hope we can influence. My passion is preschool, but I hope educators at all levels see what the preschool community is doing and are inspired to use YouTube creatively to educate all ages.”

In the Cullen’s abc’s Show & Tell group, there are over 100 videos from numerous people on preschool-related topics. There are insightful videos featuring book readings, activities, art, crafts, science projects and even early childhood public service announcements from the Ad Council. These videos benefit parents, family, friends and teachers of preschoolers. Since these videos are posted on YouTube, they are free of cost for the user.

A YouTube group is where users, who share a common interest, can become members of a group or a collective at no cost. After joining a group, users can easily add their personal videos or other videos that are in the group’s interests. Groups also have a text-based message board where users can participate in topics and discussions. Cullen’s abc’s is creativity using the Show & Tell group to establish a preschool-focused section on YouTube.
