Award-winning Artist McKenzie organizing charity to heal through art

Artist McKenzie known for her Healing Liquid Flower Art and tireless charity work is planning a project of her own. “Healing though Art will make my dreams a reality”, says McKenzie. McKenzie has organized a group of volunteers that will be part of the planned non-profit endeavor. “Art is the only pure universal language. It is not unique to any nation, race, gender or class. It speaks to our human need to share ourselves with others, to regenerate, and to transform. Art enables us to rise above our everyday lives and imagine what is possible," says the artist.

McKenzie’s plan will bring a sanative environment to normally cold, white surroundings in hospitals, doctor’s offices, and labs by using specially chosen art. Along with the changing environments, the organization will work with patients to create art; using art as therapy in physical and mental healing.

How then does art heal? Scientific studies tell us that art heals psychologically by changing the body's physiology. One’s physical and mental state changes from one of stress to one of deep relaxation. Beautiful imagery invites this journey and aids in healing.

“We are looking forward to launching our efforts with McKenzie. Her boundless energy for helping others is contagious. We are hoping that her high-profile artwork will bring lots of needed attention to our new organization—thus touching and changing the lives of many,” says Director James Banta.

McKenzie launched her online Healing Art Store on February 14, 2007. Posters, prints, limited edition giclees, and a few coveted original works are available. All purchases made from the store will go to benefiting charity.

Artist McKenzie is the recent winner of the ARTV Fine Art Awards for Mixed Media. Her work has raised tens of thousands of dollars for causes such as the AmberWatch Foundation, Humane Society, The Red Cross, The First Tee, The Vinny, The National Breast Cancer Foundation, and many, many others. McKenzie's contemporary works have been featured in galleries and exhibitions worldwide.
