TeleSciences Announces Polling Solution for Alcatel-Lucent GTD-5® Switches

(PRLEAP.COM) Mount Laurel, NJ (February 26, 2007) – TeleSciences, Inc. – a leader in providing revenue support solutions to fixed, mobile and IP service providers and equipment vendors – today announced availability of a data collection and mediation solution especially configured for Alcatel-Lucent GTD-5® digital switches using an Operations Gateway (OG). Leveraging the new mediation engine from TeleSciences – EventDynamics™ – this solution allows for all event data to be collected and managed from the switch/OG over a secure TCP/IP connection.

Traditional industry solutions are configured to retrieve call records from the switch using X.25 modem and dial-up connectivity. This causes the service provider to incur hours of communications costs, limit the volume of data received, and is subject to line failures and data loss. In contrast, the EventDynamics solution uses the faster and more secure layer 3 Internet Protocol.

“The GTD-5 is one of the most reliable, long-standing digital switches in the industry,” said TeleSciences CTO, John Loughlin. “And while service providers will add NGN switches to their network, they’ll keep legacy switches such as the GTD-5 in service. Now, with our TeleSciences EventDynamics solution – and its ability to leverage TCP/IP connectivity for wireline, mobile, as well as IMS-oriented new services – these operators can extend their investment in current switches while bridging to NGNs.”

Powerful, Integrated Event Usage Data Management to Increase Billable Traffic

Currently in use throughout the world with such switches as the Nortel® DMS series, the Alcatel-Lucent® 5ESS® and GTD-5, and the Siemens EWSD, the EventDynamics engine is one of the few event usage data management systems that seamlessly integrates post-paid and pre-paid service environments. Unlike other solutions that are cobbled-together from disparate systems, TeleSciences easily spans multiple service environments, including mobile, converged, blended, cable and IP.

EventDynamics also offers service providers an extremely intuitive user interface allowing network operators to easily adjust and add business rules for sophisticated event usage data processing.

Another function widely valued by existing TeleSciences customers is the proprietary Phantom Traffic Identifier. This revenue-enhancing tool isolates and categorizes suspected phantom traffic – calls that terminate at the local exchange switch and lack sufficient CDR detail for billing – and enriches the CDR for billing or validation. Customers report increased billable usage of up to 5%.
