En Plein Air Paintings by Sourland Mountain's Renaissance Man, Joe Kaz, on Display at Hopewell Frame Shop's Gallery

HOPEWELL, NEW JERSEY—Joe Kazimierczyk will have his first solo show at the Hopewell Frame Shop’s Gallery from March 3 through April 28, 2007. Pleased to bring the beauty of Joe's painting to her gallery's Broad Street location, Abby Frantz, the Hopewell Frame Shop's founding owner, will host an Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 3. Visitors are encouraged to drop by, view the exhibit, enjoy some refreshments and meet Joe Kaz, as he is affectionately known,

Joe is a lifelong Jersey guy who draws inspiration from the beauty that surrounds his home in the Sourland Mountains. Working in a traditional and realistic style, Joe paints the landscapes with which he is most familiar. Visitors to the Gallery will no doubt enjoy seeing if they can recognize the locales that Joe captures so well.

Like the French Impressionist painters Monet and Renoir, Joe Kaz is an accomplished en plein air painter, creating many of his smaller works outside on location. For his larger works, Joe typically heads to the studio and works in either oil or acrylic with a hand full of photographs and a mind full of memories.

A primarily self-taught artist, Joe has been painting for many years. Recently, he has begun exhibiting his work, much to the delight of art lovers and judges alike. Joe's paintings have garnered him awards from the Friends of the Delaware Canal, Trenton City Museum, Phillips Mill, the Delaware River Mill Society, Mercer County Cultural & Heritage Commission, and Winemaker Magazine, to name a few. When not painting, Joe creates hand-built ceramics, carved wooden bowls and sculpture, and is an avid bicyclist, photographer, winemaker, and nature lover.

"The beauty of nature is my muse and I most enjoy painting scenes that I am familiar with—the places that I love and see often in my daily travels," says Joe. "My hope is that when people see my work, they will see the same beauty which inspired me to paint it."
