Tourism Students Hold Conference on Beauty

Manila, Philippines - Tourism students of the PATTS College of Aeronautics held a conference entitled “Let Beauty Talk” last February 25, 2007 at the Manila Pavilion Hotel. The objectives of the conference were twofold: first, to promote the latest trends in beauty care, wellness and medical innovations in Asia; and second, to learn techniques to improve self-confidence and communication skills.

Among the speakers in the conference were: Marietta Robeniol, independent consultant for customer services; Cora Doloroso, founder of the Cora Doloroso Career Center; and aesthetic plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Carlos Lasa, Jr. Ms. Robeniol and Ms. Doloroso spoke on enhancing and developing personality and communication skills and gave practical tips to the students who would soon be graduating and starting their own careers.

Dr. Lasa shared about the growing trend of medical tourism in the Philippines and on the advantages the Philippines can offer to patients coming for medical treatments. He touched on the increasing opportunities for tourism that are available in this multi-billion dollar industry and gave the students a general presentation of the popular cosmetic surgery procedures available in the country today. In addition, Dr. Lasa provided them with information about the training that is required to become a board-certified plastic surgeon. The conference was a project of the Meetings, Incentives, Travel, Convention and Exhibition (MITCE) management class.
