Bethesda, MD.— U.S. Comptroller General warns of future Budgetary shortfalls in the pages of THE FUTURIST magazine, as seen 60 Minutes (CBS), 3-04-07.

"Federal deficits will grow to unsustainable levels in as little as two decades," says David M. Walker, the comptroller general of the United States, "At that point, without significant policy changes, federal deficits could reach 10% or more of our economy."

According to Walker, the time has come for the federal government to make some tough choices about budget systems, legislative processes, entitlement programs, spending patterns, and tax policies. "The sooner we begin to act, the better, because we are the world’s largest debtor nation, and time is working against us." To stave off this slow-moving disaster, Walker has been touring the country and sounding the warning, and has appeared on 60 minutes (CBS). Walker discusses the looming budgetary crisis and possible remedies in the March-April issue of THE FUTURSIT magazine. A copy of David M. Walker's article can be downloaded for free from the World Future Society homepage.
