AIA Triangle Held Groundbreaking for Tammy Lynn Center

RALEIGH, N.C. – AIA Triangle recently held a groundbreaking for the Wheelchair Storage Building at the Tammy Lynn Center located in Raleigh, N.C. The formal groundbreaking took place Monday, March 5th at 10:00 a.m. Representatives from AIA Triangle, Tammy Lynn Center H2Q Architecture and Clancy & Theys Construction Company were present.

In 2005, members of AIA Triangle toured the Tammy Lynn Center to see where their services could be used. They discovered that the center had a great need for a storage and maintenance building for wheelchairs. “When we first visited the Center, I was touched by the warmth of the staff and was moved by the amazing job they were doing. As we walked the corridors, there were wheelchairs everywhere, taking up valuable space that could be available for physical therapy and other services.” said Roula Qubain, AIA, president of H2Q Architecture, Architect of Record, and AIA Triangle Board Member.

During the 2005 AIA Architecture Week, members of AIA Triangle and NC State University conducted a charette for the design of the 400 SF Wheelchair Storage Building. Throughout the past two years, AIA Triangle has received donations from various companies to fund the building, including labor and materials.
