Lingo24, a UK translation company, announces the launch of Contextrans, open web-based tool which allows users to see approved translations of documents based on key phrases for English-German and German-English language combinations.

http://www.lingo24.com/ have introduced the tool for learners and advanced speakers of the relevant foreign language can use http://www.lingo24.com/contextrans to make sure the way they use phrases in their own documents is appropriate through a better understanding of the context in which those phrases are normally used.

“Several government agencies have written to us to thank us for the Chinese and Arabic versions of Contextrans,” says Lingo24 MD Christian Arno, “and, after surveying them, we’ve decided a German version would be useful as well. This move is in line with Lingo24’s aim to improve communication across the language barrier, and we’re very happy to be able to offer the service for free!”

The majority of translated documents in the Contextrans database are publicly available texts related to government affairs. The translations have been carried out by the E.U.’s official professional translators and approved language translation service providers. This makes the data particularly useful for legal translation, financial translation and general translation for the public sector.

Lingo24 are also making available another new tool called Parasaurus Germanix. This tool uses the same data to help German translators and writers to find paraphrases, synonyms and close matches to terms they wish to use in documentation.
