Food drive charity event auctions handmade oil paintings

Wichita, Kansas — March 21, 2007 — Food drive is an annual charity event, with proceeds going to the Kansas Food Bank. It was held Saturday, October 7th, in Wichita, Kansas. In the event, a public auction featuring local artists and galleries took place with all proceeds going to the Kansas Food Bank Warehouse which collected over 872,500 pounds of food from the event.

OverstockArt.com, the online leader of handmade oil paintings, donated three handmade artworks for the event to be auctioned. One of the handmade oil paintings was awarded to the Foodstock poster contest winner; Tim McManamey, he was awarded the painting Farbstudie Quadrate by Kandinsky. The other two paintings, another Kandinsky and a Monet masterpiece, were auctioned off for a donation of $250 each. A sizeable portion of the money raised in the event.

“OverstockArt’s donation helps to make sure that no Kansan goes hungry” said Catherine Kalocinski, event organizer.

“It is our way of giving back to our community,” said David Sasson, founder of the online handmade oil paintings gallery. “As Kansans, it matters to us what goes on in our community and it is a true privilege to be able to give back.”
