foodvacation.com names top 5 overlooked luxury vacation destinations of 2007

March 20, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
foodvacation.com, the most popular internet web site for gourmet-related travel and culinary vacations, announces the publication of its annual overlooked destinations list.

Based on proprietary research and editorial staff travel during 2006, the list is topped by Canada's Atlantic provinces (including Nova Scotia, P.E.I., and New Brunswick), followed by Bordeaux City in France, Granada and San Sebastian in Spain, and Bocas del Toro, an archipelago of Caribbean isles in Panama.

The top 5 list will be published each year in March.

The list considers factors such as the location's scenic beauty, availability of luxury-level accommodations and gastronomic-style dining, and general ability to offer an extremely high-quality vacation experience.

The focus for the list remains on luxury travel for couples and families.

Spain won two spots on the list for two very different cities. Atlantic Canada edged into the number one spot because it is rarely considered a luxury travel destination, in yet offers divine summer weather, pristine nature, and superb accommodation options such as Trout Point Lodge in Nova Scotia and the Kingsbrae Arms in New Brunswick.
