Hidden Shoal Recordings Announces Colour Kane Pre-Release.

Perth, Western Australia and Antwerp, Belgium March 22th, 2007. The Australian digital music label, Hidden Shoal Recordings, today announced the pre-release of the debut album, “A Taste Of” by the Belgian dream pop outfit, Colour Kane.

The Album Featuring a collaboration with Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins fame, “A Taste Of” is laden with honey coated, magisterial guitars, sweeping electronics and lush vocals. The title track encapsulates the album with its exquisite interplaying guitars ringing out against the ethereal voice of Marjan Snykers. As with the rest of the album, this song finds that unique emotive space where sonic majesty and melodic craftsmanship paint the sky with a rich and immersive melancholy.

As you listen to “A Taste Of” it becomes easy to see why Robin Guthrie would be drawn to work with the band. The Colour Kane and Robin Guthrie collaboration, “Seaside Dream”, is a slowly surging wave. Layers of lush guitars and rising voices push ever upward, collecting everything in their wake. The track marries the magic of both Guthrie and Colour Kane and squeezes it into a three and half minute velvet lined bundle.

The Band
Colour Kane are one of the new breed of dream popsters. The band deliver cascading guitars and sweet soaring vocals propelled by driving bass and electronic beats. Colour Kane’s music draws a wonderful arc that both defines and divides melancholy and bliss. Where so much dream pop is described through aesthetic alone, Colour Kane radiate atmosphere and shifted emotion wrapped in jewelled blankets and honey gauze.

The band’s music found Robin Guthrie, who offered his support, ultimately leading to the band support-ing Robin during his Lumière shows in Belgium.

“A Taste Of” is now available as a pre-release exclusively from the HSR Store. The album will see official release in May 2007 where it will be available from all good digital music stores such as Itunes, eMusic, Sony Connect and Rhapsody.
