DESIGNERS & AGENTS GOES GREEN in MAY 2007

Designers and Agents is pleased to announce its new Go Green initiative. Continuing the D&A tradition of innovation and reinforcing the company’s commitment to promoting social causes through its shows, Designers and Agents Goes Green will launch at the Holiday tradeshows in New York and Los Angeles this spring.

As well as guiding buyers to the eco-friendly vendors interspersed among D&A’s hundreds of presenting designers, the event will feature Designers and Agents’ first eco-chic capsule, a handpicked collection of fashion, lifestyle products, energy efficient products and educational materials promoting personal well-being and global sustainability.

Designers and Agents Goes Green marks a natural progression of D&A’s interest in sustainability issues. Previous shows have seen a substantial rise in the number of its vendors using eco-friendly materials. Furthermore, D&A has plans to introduce various eco-conscious practices to its shows, ranging from improvements in recycling in cooperation with FIJI Water, a D&A sponsor, to the use of eco-friendly cleaning supplies and biodegradable plates and utensils for catering.

In true D&A style, Designers and Agents Goes Green mixes commerce with creativity: The company has engaged a number of collaborators and partners to make the upcoming New York and Los Angeles shows not only educational, but the most exciting D&A shows yet. GOOD magazine will host launch parties at D&A on both coasts, toasting Josh Dorfman and his soon-to-be-released book, The Lazy Environmentalist. A design entrepreneur and host of “The Lazy Environmentalist” on Sirius Radio, Dorfman himself has signed on as a guest expert to co-curate the eco-chic capsule. In support of both spirit and soil, The Seed Project mastermind David Cohen will be creating installations for the Designers and Agents shows, and bags of the Project’s wheatgrass seeds will be presented to all show attendees. Designers and Agents is an independent, international, alternative marketplace with over 1,000 participants and thousands of retailers who define the cutting edge in fashion and lifestyle. Identifying emerging talent and creating an intimate, synergistic environment that fosters relationships between designers and buyers, each of Designers and Agents’ Spring and Fall shows are pre-edited, art-directed, and merchandised to create a sense of camaraderie and discovery.
