Los Angeles, CA – 03/26/07 – Clothing made from organically grown cotton and hemp fabrics may still conjure 1960’s images of hippies sitting on a lawn in tie-dye shirts, but today eco-friendly fashion is all grown up. FaeriesDance.com, a young online website for environmentally sensitive clothing, has put together an array of fashions from eco-manufacturers around the country to offer a full line of styles from the casual t-shirt to full length gowns suitable for the dressiest black tie event.

“In the last few years, the environmentally friendly clothing market has really expanded. For the first time, a woman can get sophisticated dresses, gowns and pant suits that are completely devoid of ‘hippy’,” says Adrienne Catone, FaeriesDance.com’s founder. So far the selection of floor-length dresses is still limited. Most women aren’t aware that they can get all decked out while still being planet-friendly, so there’s not a huge demand for the more formal wear. FaeriesDance.com is changing all that.

As more women learn about what environmental options are available in high fashion, Adrienne believes the demand will grow and so will the line. She hopes to offer an extensive array of formal wear within a few years. Currently, only a handful of manufacturers are going beyond the basics in sustainable fashion. As retailers bring more items to market and expand public knowledge of what fabrics and styles are available, interest will grow.

Perhaps in the future you can expect to see blushing brides in silky soft bamboo dresses trimmed in pure white organic cotton lace. For now though, you can attend that Hollywood premier or the formal night on your next cruise in a lovely gown from eco-friendly organic cotton, hemp or bamboo.
