The Wall Street Journal: Card Companies Crack Down On Restaurants -- Alfonso Faustino Cracks Down On...
(
PRLEAP.COM) On the 23-March-07, Robin Sidel, of The Wall Street Journal, writes about credit card companies cracking down on restaurants for not adhering to security regulations in the protection of their diner’s credit card data from thieves.
While the credit card companies are busy protecting diners from data theft, Alfonso Faustino and Maria Calanchini of
www.GreyhoundDogCare.com are busy protecting greyhound dogs by aligning themsleves and their business and social contacts toward greyhound rescue projects that provide advocacy and protection for greyhound dogs. They, and their business contacts are cracking down on greyhound dog abuse.
"Greyhound dogs are inhumanely treated and brutally and fatally abused every year after their racing careers are over, and we don’t like it!" says Maria Calanchini.
Unlike other non profit personnel, both Maria Calanchini and Alfonso Faustino are successful business entrepreneurs having over 30 years of extensive corporate business experiences in real estate, high-technology, and the fashion and film industries.
"We use our extensive business skills in many ways toward greyhound and Italian greyhound dog rescue efforts, such as, project management and financial skills; however, the most important way we use our business skills is bringing the greyhound rescue efforts to our influential business contacts in the film and high-tech industries," says Alfonso.
He continues, "I’ve established many friends and foes in my 25+ years in Corporate America and in my three years as a business entrepreneur. Regardless if my contacts are friends or foes, we all share one thing in common that brings us all together — stopping animal abuse!"
“Presently, we are in discussions with some prominent A-List celebrities in the film industry who are working with us in our greyhound rescue efforts…the people with whom we are speaking are not only making financial contributions, but they are also using their precious time to publicly state their support toward greyhound dog rescue efforts, via PAs [Public Announcements], which to me and them, are just as valuable, if not more valuable, than financial donations."
Alfonso Faustino has been connected in the film industry primarily as an investor of independent films, where he introduced his business contacts to A-List film producers for film production funding.
He was one of the founders and partners who created Metropolis Motion Pictures, Limited, which was mainly a film finance company that focused on funding independent film projects with budgets between $1.5 million to $20 million.
Eventually, Metropolis Motion Pictures, Limited (LTD), dissolved its LLC and directed their focus and energy toward a film production company in Southern California called, Film 7.
"As long as I continue to speak about greyhound dog rescue to people, the momentum of those discussions will create a spark, which will create a fire, and that fire will spread the word of greyhound dog rescue — regardless, of business industries or location, the greyhound dog rescue effort becomes, in my social and business circles, a global issue."
"GreyhoundDogCare.com received many positive responses regarding Alfonso Faustino’s book: "Owning a Greyhound…Things To Know!," says Maria Calanchini.
Alfonso wrote the book to provide a global discussion and education about adopting and rescuing greyhound dogs after their lives on the race tracks.
Alfonso’s business method and approach have been successfully demonstrated in the past, where he created a global interest and concern regarding the parks in Tanzania, Africa.
As a result of his method and approach, he received donations from several well-known corporations in America — one being from Larry Ellison’s company, Oracle Corporation.
"The nice thing about being an entrepreneur is that I decide the way I allocate my time and efforts — I’m at a point in my life where I’m beginning to manage time and not the other way around."
Alfonso concludes, "Right now, I choose to dedicate my time and money to the greyhound rescue effort — hell, if I was still working at Oracle Corporation, I might be working on a software project that protected diners from data thieves…what good is that to me? I pay cash when I dine out."
