Mouser Now Stocking New Patch Antennas from Spectrum Control

March 29, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Mouser Electronics, Inc., the only distributor to release a new catalog every 90 days, today announced it is stocking Spectrum Control’s line of patch antenna elements and assemblies designed to optimize signal transmission and reception for modern wireless products.

Spectrum Control’s patch antennas transmit and receive polarized signals both circularly and linearly. These antennas are easily turned and optimized for quick, cost-effective prototyping. Dielectric values are typically <8mm in height and as low as 4mm, depending on bandwidth requirements. Antenna radiation patterns provide excellent gain across all elevation angles and are easily manipulated for more focused requirements. Antennas from 1GHz to 3GHz antennas are lightweight and 13mm-50mm square (excluding the ground plane).

Typical gain response ranges from 0dBi to 3dBi for half-power beam widths of 110˚, while gain at bore site can exceed 6dBi depending upon proper ground plane selection. The ground plane is a pivotal part of the antenna, with various sizes and thicknesses affecting frequency shift, gain, axial ratio, and radiation pattern.

Satellite-based applications include GPS Commercial (L1) and Military (L2), GlobalStar™ (including AeroAstro SENS), Iridium, and Inmarsat. Terrestrial-based applications include ISM (Industry, Scientific & Medical), Zigbee™, Bluetooth®, and RFID.
"We are very excited about releasing these new products to the engineering community in partnership with Mouser Electronics. Mouser's ability to deliver our innovative products and unique design solutions to a large and diverse customer base makes them an integral part of Spectrum's distribution network," said Mark Lyons, Spectrum Control’s Global Distribution Sales Manager.

According to Barry McConnell, Mouser Vice President of Product Marketing, adding this new complete line of patch antenna elements and assemblies enhances the distributor’s linecard of innovative products that are quickly introduced to the engineering community.
"We are pleased to introduce Spectrum Control’s innovative products to our customers,” McConnell said. “Adding the newest products that optimize modern wireless applications is just the type of new product introductions our engineering customers expect from Mouser.”

Mouser’s customers are comprised of diverse business accounts that represent a wide range of small, medium, and large companies; as well as individuals and engineering consultants who recommend, specify, and purchase board-level components for new product designs.
The distributor’s broad-based product line, unsurpassed customer service, and streamlined warehouse operations make Mouser the design engineer’s one-stop shop for all the board-level components and associated development tools necessary for total project design.
