Kevin Bacon Is One Degree From The Hearts Of Many
(
PRLEAP.COM) Raleigh, NC (EddieTheDawg.org) March 30, 2007 — You have probably heard of the Six Degrees concept. Any one person is connected to any other person through six or fewer relationships because it’s a small world. Kevin Bacon started SixDegrees.org because he wanted to use this idea to accomplish something good. It’s social networking with a social conscience. Through the SixDegrees.org Website, you can learn about and support the charities of celebrities and your friends, as well as fundraise for the causes close to your heart.
Anyone can create a charity badge on SixDegrees.org to provide a link to donate to their favorite charities. The top 6 badges that have the most number of donations between January 18th and March 31st at 11:59 pm ET will get a matching grant from Kevin Bacon of up to $10,000. As Saturday night draws near, one can imagine that the numbers are really going to start to climb on all the badges.
Everyone participating in this program shares a common thread — making a difference in the lives of others through volunteer efforts and donations. The charities have gained from the donations pouring in and through the awareness brought to their causes by being displayed on the SixDegrees.org Website, but the greatest benefit of all is through the connections made within this community. It is a power of connections — one person to the next, to the next, and so on — that anyone can view online.
The top 10 badges on the Website as of noon on March 29 support the following charities that are important to the thousands of individuals who have donated to them since January 18 (in alphabetical order):
