Lacey, Washington – Engineered Software, Inc., the leading provider of software used to design and simulate the operation of fluid piping systems, announced the availability of its fire sprinkler hydraulic analysis software program. The program, branded as the company’s flagship PIPE-FLO Professional program, has been upgraded to perform hydraulic calculations following the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 13 standards.

“We are very pleased to release a program that meets the NFPA 13 standards,” said Ray Hardee, Vice President of Engineering at Engineered Software, Inc. “By adding the Hazen-Williams method of hydraulic calculation to our already robust program we can meet the needs of those who are designing fire sprinkler systems. We have become the industry standard for fluid piping design and simulation software based on our desire to meet and exceed the needs of our customers. Adding this new calculation method is simply another step in exceeding our customers expectations,” Hardee said.

The need for fire sprinkler design and simulation software has grown as safety standards have increased and older buildings designed prior to these standards being established have begun to undergo remodeling.

"PIPE-FLO is the perfect tool to use when adding to, remodeling or retro-fitting an older facility. By modeling the system in PIPE-FLO, designers can understand exactly how the proposed changes will affect the current system." Hardee said. "We have clients who look at plans as far as 20 years in the future when adding to systems. With PIPE-FLO, that job is very easy.”

The importance of correctly sizing pumps and components in fire sprinkler systems can not be overstated.

“We know how important it is to ensure that these systems are designed correctly. The job of a fire sprinkler engineer is so critical because lives are at stake. We are proud to provide a program that helps make their job easier by quickly and accurately designing, simulating and troubleshooting their systems,” Hardee added.

PIPE-FLO is used by designers and operators to gain a clear picture of their fluid piping systems. The program allows users to visualize their systems in a familiar format, calculate system operations, easily communicate the design with others and access supporting documents in electronic format.
