Illinois Resident Runs For US Jaycee President

PRLEAP.COM) Garrett McNally of Palatine, Illinois has announced his candidacy for the office of President of the United States Junior Chamber (U.S. Jaycees) for the 2008 calendar year in an election to be held at the U.S. Jaycee 87th Annual Meeting from September 20th through the 23rd in Omaha, Nebraska.
“We are a leadership training organization designed to build leaders through the community service projects we run,” said McNally. “I intend to help this organization grow and inspire the new members to make a difference in the towns and villages where they live and become true leaders in their community, their businesses and in their lives. I would be proud to serve as the President of the United States Junior Chamber.”
For the last three years McNally has served on the U.S. Jaycees Board of Directors providing direction to the over 1,100 chapters in the United States. This year McNally is serving as Business Development Director while last year he was Director of New Chapter Development. In 2005, McNally served as a National Vice President for the U.S. Jaycees and as the Chairman of the Board for the Illinois Jaycees.
Before serving the U.S. Jaycees, McNally was active with the Illinois Jaycees. In 2004, he served as the 73rd President of the Illinois Jaycees. The year prior to his presidency, he served as the Community Development Vice President for the Illinois Jaycees. In 2002, he served as an Illinois Region Director for the North Region where he received the Clint Dunagan Memorial Award recognizing him as one of the top Region Directors in the United States. In 2000 and 2001, he served as a District Director where he was named an Outstanding District Director in 2001. He was also awarded the Presidential Award of Honor from the Illinois Jaycees four consecutive times from 2000 through 2003.
McNally’s Jaycee career began with the Palatine Jaycees in 1994. He held the office of Local Director in 1996 and 1997. He also served as Membership Development Vice President for the Chapter in 1998. McNally remains active in the Palatine chapter contributing to many projects throughout the year.
The Jaycees provide individuals between the age of 18 and 40 the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their community. Every year, Jaycee chapters conduct numerous programs to serve the community and accumulate funds for operation of the Chapter and community donations. Included in these projects are Fourth of July Festivals, Christmas tree sales, sand sales, haunted houses and others, which benefit the community directly and help raise money.
McNally currently lives in Palatine with his wife of 10 years, Kate, and their six month old son Patrick Ryan. Kate is a Rolling Meadows high school teacher and a past President of the Palatine Jaycees. “Garrett has always succeeded in everything he has attempted,” Kate said. “I know he will be a great President and a driving force for the Jaycees across the country.”
McNally works at New England Financial, a MetLife affiliate, in Northbrook where he is a Managing Associate. His responsibilities include the recruiting and training of new associates for the firm. Prior to joining New England Financial, he was a manager for Principal Financial in Oakbrook. McNally received his degree in Marketing from Illinois State University in 1994.
“In my work with New England Financial, I spend most of my time training individuals on how to work in the financial industry,” McNally said. “I hope to bring my background in training to the Jaycees and help them grow the way I have helped my employees succeed.”
