Steamboat Springs, CO (April 2007) – Cisco, a world leader in networking and communications technology, recently joined the Telepresence World 2007 Conference as a Diamond sponsor. As such, Cisco will play an integral role in supporting Telepresence World 2007, the first-of-its-kind landmark summit on the emerging technologies of telepresence, presence, and unified communications. Telepresence World 2007 will be held June 4-6, at the University of San Diego, San Diego, CA.

In October of 2006, after two years of research and development, Cisco introduced their “TelePresence Meeting Solution,” a revolutionary new collaborative technology that creates a “face-to-face” meeting experience over high bandwidth networks. More recently, in March of 2007, Cisco entered into a partnership with the Regus Group to deploy 50 telepresence systems in cities around the world, including London, Sydney, and Paris, a move that will increase the public availability of telepresence facilities substantially.

Keynoting the conference will be Charles Stucki, newly-appointed Vice President and General Manager for Cisco’s TelePresence Systems Business Unit. Stucki joined Cisco over six years ago. In his first four years at Cisco, he served as VP of the Internet Business Solutions Group Manufacturing practice and worked with global account teams, theater and area sales leadership, and senior business executives in global high-tech, automotive, aerospace, and industrial companies. Prior to joining Cisco’s Emerging Markets Technology Group, he led a cross-Cisco program to set a Cisco-wide strategy and action plan to upgrade process and systems infrastructure in order to better support Cisco’s growing software businesses.

“Cisco’s sponsorship of Telepresence World 2007 showcases its commitment to the future of this technology, ” says Mark Barounos, President of Hemisphere Expo Services, coordinators of the conference. “We are excited to have Cisco on board and to be able to provide our attendees with access to members of their senior management team. Telepresence technology represents a new paradigm in the way humans relate to one another and their surroundings and Cisco is one of the most important industry leaders today.”
