Published by Forbes magazine, one of the most recognized business publications in the country, these revered awards reward innovative thinking in small business management, and provide tangible evidence of a company’s success. Only 144 small businesses out of thousands of nominees were selected as finalists for these coveted awards which honor visionary business models and achievement in 25 categories.

Nominees were evaluated on a variety of criteria, including innovation, customer relations, community involvement, employee development, and other efforts resulting in business growth. The awards recognize excellence in five areas: Marketing, Customer Service, Employee Relations, Community Service, and Product/Service Innovation.

The awards were presented on February 5, 2007 at a gala at Lincoln Center in New York City by Program Manager Peter Price, who also manages the Emmy Awards. The Judging Committee was chaired by Judith H. Dobrynski whose experience includes being a reporter and senior editor at the New York Times and Business Week, Managing Editor at CNBC, and as an adjunct professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
