Beautypreneur launches first online lifestyle show for Gen X and Y women
(PRLEAP.COM) There’s Oprah and Ellen. There’s The View and Martha Stewart. Then there are the myriad of reality shows that never quite seem to show anyone quite as real as the people you know. So where can the Gen X and Y women find beauty tips, fashion trends and opinions on the issues relevant in her everyday life? Modern woman Andrea Kane has created that space and she’s inviting all women to “Hit the G Spot” June 1st.
The G Spot, otherwise known as The Girlfriend Lounge, is the first online lifestyle show for women 24 to 40. Don’t expect your typical, run of the mill politically correct talk show. While there will be beauty and fashion segments, the Girl Talk segment raises the issues of sex, race and politics on a weekly basis. Kane specifically created this show online to be free of the restraints of cable and network shows and to make it easy for the modern woman on the go to enjoy and watch on her timetable.
“When I watch TV I see women who don’t look, act or think like me or any other woman I know,” says 33-year-old Kane. “We are girls that other women can relate to. We don’t talk down, we talk with. It’s women talking – its girlfriend talk.”
Kane, a bespoke perfumer and beauty blogger, spent seven years in the military as a broadcaster and public relations specialist. She then started her first beauty business and continues to mentor others through consultations, seminars and workshops. The idea for an online show began after she ventured onto the blogosphere with The Organic Beauty Expert blog and Organic Beauty Radio podcast. She placed on ad on Craigslist looking for co-hosts and make-up artist Christina Farrell and personal stylist Vanessa Valienta got the job. Well they got the gig. There’s no pay… yet.
“Just like other self-produced online shows, we will specialize in sponsorship and product placement,” says Kane. “We’ve teamed up with La Jolla Spa MD and their skin care and surgery expertise will be featured on a monthly guest segment. We’ve also joined the Glam.com network and their estimated 110 million worldwide page views will definitely help gain advertiser attention.”
Kane is part of a growing trend of producers who are taking their show ideas to the web instead of cable and network. A recent survey from eMarketer states that more women are logging online for entertainment and information, which means more opportunity for shows like Kane’s to capture an audience that is not being targeted. The Girlfriend Lounge Show launches June 1.
