Show Me the Way Foundation & GRIP Magazine Sponsor HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign at Local High School
(PRLEAP.COM) Atlanta, GA – April 2007 – Show Me the Way Foundation (SMTWF) and GRIP Magazine hosted the first annual GET IN…FIT IN…GET OUT…Fashion Show fundraising event on Friday, March 30 at Crim High School, 256 Clifton Street Atlanta, GA 30317. Proceeds benefited SMTWF HIV/AIDS mentoring programs and positive group activities. Over 300 students and faculty members were in attendance as the foundation rose over $2000 for its activities and programs.
The GET IN…FIT IN…GET OUT… Fashion Show fundraising event is a HIV/AIDS awareness campaign that educates teens on the importance of abstinence. With this campaign, SMTWF and GRIP Magazine used fashion as leverage to encouraged teens to focus on GETTING IN touch with what they want out of life, FIT IN with their own personal style, and GET OUT and make their dreams a reality. The hour long fashion event featured stylish clothing choices for young adults from Forever 21, Target, Controversy Boutique, R World, and Ashley Stewart. The fashion looks showcased inspired a confident, professional, and empowered appearance. Guests were entertained with performances by local celebrities like Da Shop Boyz and Tyna Q. In addition, with every ticket purchased, GRIP Magazine donated the ticket holder a free subscription to their magazine.
“SMTWF and GRIP Magazine are continuously searching for new and creative ways to connect with our youth,” said Founder and President Tashawnya Menefee of SMTWF. “In partnership with GRIP Magazine, we feel this fashion show encouraged Crimp High School students and their peers that it is ok to practice abstinence and HIV/AIDS is real”.
