First World Journalism Congress to be held in Singapore, June 25-28, 2007


(PRLEAP.COM) (2007) The first World Journalism Education Congress (WJEC) will be held in Singapore June 25-28, 2007. This three-day unprecedented event will provide assembly for the world’s top journalism leaders to discuss common issues in support of the continuing development of journalism education worldwide. The event will be open to journalism educators, students and practitioners, and include plenary sessions, research presentations, panel discussions, an editors’ roundtable and more.

Congress highlights scheduled:

State of World Journalism Education
- Global Census of Journalism Education Report;
- Declaration of Universal Journalism Principles;
- Journalism Curricula for Developing Countries and Emerging Democracies;
- Launch of UNESCO’s Model Curriculum Programme.

WJEC will be hosted by the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) and the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University, and organized in collaboration with the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).
