ZapThink and Object Management Group (OMG) Partner to Promote Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Credentialing; ZapThink Joins SOA Consortium
(
PRLEAP.COM) BALTIMORE, MD – April 17, 2007 — ZapThink, the industry’s foremost experts and advisors in the field of SOA today announces its partnership with Object Management Group (OMG) to promote ZapThink’s efforts to mature and foster the development of credentials for Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). ZapThink also announces today that it has joined the SOA Consortium and OMG as an anayst member. The OMG™ is an international, open membership, not-for-profit computer industry consortium. OMG Task Forces develop enterprise integration standards for a wide range of technologies, and an even wider range of industries. In the partnership with ZapThink, OMG will promote ZapThink’s education and SOA training, credentialing, and certification opportunities, and ZapThink will promote OMG’s SOA Consortium and other related EA market-building efforts. Furthermore, ZapThink will accept OMG certifications as pre-qualifications for its Licensed ZapThink Architect (LZA) boot camp offerings.
“There is a significant lack of available, skilled, and qualified EA talent to meet the demand for rapidly growing SOA initiatives,” said Ronald Schmelzer, Senior Analyst with ZapThink. “Companies are tired of all the hype surrounding Web Services and SOAs, and are finding it difficult to learn what they really need to know from vendor-centric conferences and training. ZapThink has partnered with the OMG to expand the visibility of ZapThink’s SOA credentials that give Enterprise Architecture practitioners the SOA expertise and career development they’re looking for.”
The OMG recently announced the development of the SOA Consortium, a new advocacy group of end users, service providers and technology vendors committed to helping the Global 1000 successfully adopt Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) by 2010. Participants include Avis Budget Car Rental, Bank of America, CellExchange, Inc., HP, Integration Consortium, Object Management Group, WebEx Communications and founding sponsors BEA Systems, Inc., Cisco, IBM Corporation, and SAP AG.
As part of their joint marketing, promotion, and partnering agreement, ZapThink and OMG will provide their respective customers and memberships joint offerings including discounts on ZapThink’s Licensed ZapThink Architect (LZA). ZapThink also joins the OMG as an Analyst Member and a member of the SOA Consortium.
Achieving the benefits of service-oriented architecture requires significant changes for both IT and business executives. Enterprise SOA practitioners would greatly benefit from a vibrant practitioner community to drive local, business-driven, SOA success, and to spur broader enterprise, and industry-wide, SOA adoption. Through OMG’s recent efforts, including the SOA Consortium and by partnering with ZapThink to promote its LZA credentialing and training opportunities, the OMG will further add value to its membership and its SOA education and certification initiatives.
