XandMail presents XandMail Portal Messaging Center, a multi-device access solution for external email accounts

Paris, FRANCE– 25 June 2004 – XandMail SA, the digital communication solutions provider, today announced the availability of XandMail Portal Messaging Center, a global carrier-grade solution providing access to an internal portal cache which syndicates external mail accounts.

XandMail Portal Messaging Center (PMC) is an attractive new concept in messaging services: it allows mobile operators to offer original mobile data services to their subscribers.
PMC is a solution which syndicates external messaging accounts: a user who has several email accounts with different providers can check and manage all his inboxes, in real time, from the same place. As PMC is optimized for mobile usage, the user can operate on his various inboxes, from his mobile phone or handheld device, without having to log in and out of every account.
PMC consists of a multi-device user interface, a portal cache (storage solution) and a synchronization tool, XSTools™.
When the user first connects to the PMC interface, he registers a list of external accounts he wants to pick up. PMC already offers a set of pre-filled forms to facilitate the registration of new accounts.
PMC synchronizes the external messaging systems and the portal cache using XSTools, a process which periodically updates PMC in an asynchronous manner, and connects to the user's external accounts using the appropriate protocol (POP3 or IMAP4).
The end-user is empowered by a number of other attractive and practical features from PMC: access to personal folders, message replying/forwarding/sending with the current external account email address appearing as the "From' address, consistency of message status (read/unread/deleted) between the portal cache and the external accounts.
PMC can be browsed through a web, WAP, i-mode or voice interface. As for WAP and i-mode, PMC automatically uses a powerful rendering engine to fit the terminal's technical specifications (screen dimensions, browser, operating systems, etc.), so that the user sees a perfect display of the information, regardless of the type of device he uses.
A user-configurable SMS notification also allows the user to be alerted by text message whenever he receives a new email in one of his accounts, whenever he receives a message from a specific sender, or if an urgent email arrives.
Ky-Ming Jen, Chief Operating Officer of XandMail, says: "All analysts and even operators themselves agree that data services are a great potential area for growth in the mobile industry, and their part in mobile operators' turnover is bound to exceed voice revenues. At XandMail, we design products so that operators benefit from best-of-breed solutions while offering attractive services to the end-user.'
"PMC has already convinced major telecommunication players' declares Richard Szewczyk, Sales Director for Southern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America at XandMail. "The first French mobile operator has it up and running, and has been successfully offering the service to their subscribers for a few months now.'
