TownKings is coming: Real Life instead of Second Life!

April 21, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Real life is always more thrilling and exciting than the virtual one. The only problem is that it is difficult to meet new people and make connections in a large city. Because who can suspect that there might be someone right around the corner who has the same interests or is also looking for a new partner or who would like to earn a few Euros doing casual jobs? This knowledge of wishes, offers and preferences of the neighbours and cohabitants of a city is now displayed on the web by TownKings: a worldwide novelty.

Becoming a cohabitant of your own virtual city
TownKings invites all residents of a city to become part of the new Web-2.0-Community and to eternalise themselves in the virtual map with their own entry. Later on a mouse click is enough to open your own profile as a pop-up with a picture and further information. Philipp Kraft, general manager of the responsible Supreme NewMedia GmbH which is working vigorously on TownKings: "This enables a completely new exploration of your entire living area – just like radar which shows you exactly who in your own vicinity shares the same interests as you do. Neighbours who like to jog can therefore specifically get to know one another and in TownKings can even open a meeting point at which they from now on agree to meet at specific times in order to jog."

This system offers numerous alternatives because each community member makes out what he or she expects from his or her local community or what it has to offer him or her. Effective immediately organising your spare time, finding new friends or arranging a meeting point for activities of all kinds is no longer a problem. Philipp Kraft: "Up until now the user had to become a member of each different online community for every private or commercial network with which he/she wanted to socialise with"

In doing so TownKings is not only interesting for your own social environment. Whoever has to move or stay somewhere else for a few days can quickly take-off to the online community, download the respective city map onto his/her screen and can then find out where which clubs can be found or if there isn’t someone locally who also has a weakness for fast go-cart races, sprawling bike trips or a visit to a trendy club in nothing flat.

The timetable in overview
Presently behind the scenes of TownKings everything is being done to the best of our ability. In May TownKings is going into the closed source beta test. In July at the latest the new local-based Web-2.0-Community will be presented to the public.
