Sand Creek Announces New Michigan Dealer

Sand Creek Post & Beam of Wayne, Nebraska is excited to announce the addition of Michigan Reclaim Lumber to our dealer network. Located in Carson City, Michigan Aaron Esch and his wife, Maggie, joined the Sand Creek Dealer Network in January.

Aaron was raised on a small family dairy farm and spent a lot of time in older post and beam barns working as well as a child swinging from the mow to the floor from the hay track ropes. After high school he went to work for his uncle in a logging business. They followed sustainable harvesting principles and observed responsible forest management. His current business, Michigan Reclaim Lumber, harvests and refurbishes lumber from old neglected barns to be used in residential and remodeling projects and now offers Sand Creek Post & Beam traditional barn kits.

“Here in Michigan the traditional barn has outlived its practical farm use. I remember as a child there was an old barn for every 40 acres of land, and now just 20 years later more than half of them have disappeared from the landscape either victims of bulldozer, neglect, or a can of gas and a match. I’ve been working hard to recycle as much lumber from the old barns as I possibly can. As I’ve dismantled some sorely neglected barns, I look at the place where the barn once stood and felt a sense of loss thinking, that old barn just can’t be replaced”, says Aaron. “When I saw an ad for Sand Creek Post & Beam barn kits I knew that this was something I had to be involved with and called right away. Now that I am a dealer for Sand Creek Post & Beam, I look forward to the day when these great cathedrals will once again dot the land. They will still be standing, along with the Granddads that inspired them, long after the steel pole barns have rusted away.”

Beyond raising the children, Maggie is also the office manager and motivator. According to Aaron, “Maggie works hard to keep things running smoothly and is the driving force behind our success.” Together they are a Sand Creek Post & Beam barn kit dealer as a part of Michigan Reclaim Lumber, and run a small hobby farm and are raising their three young children.

“We are very pleased to have Aaron and Maggie as a part of our dealer network. Their passion for barns and the traditional country life are very motivating and inspirational to our team,” says Mandy Kubik-Fredrickson, Sand Creek Post & Beam Sales Director.
