Deutsche Post IT Services GmbH Selects E2E for Model Driven Integration

April 27, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
BASEL (Switzerland), April 2007. – E2E, the leading provider of Model Driven Integration software, today announced that Deutsche Post IT Services GmbH has selected the E2E Bridge, E2E’s flagship product, for the development of its Shared Integration Service Center (SISC). The selection followed a comprehensive evaluation of the entire integration market that included all major manufacturers and exhaustive testing of competitive solutions. The SISC consists of an integrated middleware platform that allows Deutsche Post IT Services to offer Enterprise Application Integration functionality as an on-demand solution.

The goal of the SISC is to offer Business Integration functionality in the Application Service Provider (ASP) model. In contrast to conventional customer-specific implementations, the services offered remain in possession of Deutsche Post's IT Services Center. The advantage for the customer is that instead of having to invest in services and infrastructure, one can subscribe to, and pay for, only what is needed. In addition, a user profits from the synergy effects that come with centrally operated functions. The on-demand solution offered by SISC includes business functions such as FTP services, SOAP services, routing and scheduler services, as well as error handling, logging, billing and file storage.

James Kariko Kimathi, Head of Integration Solutions at Deutsche Post ITSolutions GmbH, IT Services Center Bonn, explains: "We examined the marketplace thoroughly and evaluated a wide range of suppliers and solutions. The decision in favor of the E2E Bridge was on one hand due to the unique and highly innovative integration approach of this solution, which allows us to carry out integration projects very rapidly and with unprecedented quality, and on the other hand, the successful implementation of a complex proof-of-concept scenario by E2E in record time, confirming the theoretical possibilities inherent in the MDI approach in a most striking manner. The E2E Bridge impresses not only because of its elegance, but also because of its performance – far ahead of that of classic platforms. These features give us completely new perspectives at the strategic level for business development, allowing us to tap into new markets with our on-demand solution at a much lower cost and in a much shorter time."

Integration and Migration Dramatically Accelerated

The E2E Bridge is the world's first Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) based on a Unified Modeling Language (UML) Virtual Machine. Using this unique approach, conventional programming of interfaces is no longer necessary. In addition, integration services, including microflows, composition, orchestration and business logic, are modeled in their entirety in UML and can be directly executed without having to write or generate a single line of code. In comparison to conventional EAI and SOA approaches, use of Model Driven Integration accelerates integration and migration projects enormously. Moreover, the quality and transparency of interface implementations is substantially improved and maintenance simplified, since the documentation IS the code. E2E's approach has been hailed by leading market research firms as a technological breakthrough in SOA integration.
