Designer and owner Christopher S. Gillis today announced the opening of Saltline Studio, a website design and development company dedicated to serving the online needs of businesses on the Cape and Islands.

The emphasis for Saltline Studio will be on building sites with web standards that make simple and effective statements for a business while attracting new customers and engaging existing customers according to Gillis.

“We’re in the second – some would even say third – generation of online marketing for businesses, yet many sites still fail to deliver on the promise of the internet. They’re not user-friendly enough; they’re written and designed to older standards; and in many cases they fall short of producing enough business to justify their existence. Also, because of cost, some small businesses have been unable to participate in a meaningful way on the internet. Saltline’s mission is to serve both markets: older sites that need updating or replacing, and new sites that are effective, well-designed, and affordable."

Gillis recently moved to the Cape from Boston where he was responsible for designing and developing sites for large national brands such as Saucony, EF Tours, Go Ahead Vacations, Teva and Brown University.

“Although I’ll always be a ‘washashore,’ I love the Cape and have been coming here my entire life. It’s my intention to serve my neighbors in the business community here well and produce graphic elements and sites that get consumers excited about their businesses,” Gillis added.
