New FamilyBusinessStrategies.com, A Blog For Business Owners And Their Advisors

(PRLEAP.COM) Originally created to support the resources directory www.iBizResources.com with profiles of successful business owners, Family Business Strategies has been re-launched offering do-it-yourself promotion opportunities for Main Street companies. The new blog’s design compliments the co-branded look of the current iBizResources.com site and access to all of the original content, from 1999 until the present, is still only a single click away.

"It occurred to me that there were lots of stories from Main Street that people would want to read about" comments Wayne Messick, co-founder of Family Business Strategies and the author of over two-thirds of the profiles. "So I made a few calls to my association contacts in a dozen industries and the rest was easy - time consuming, but easy."

Mr. Messick’s assumption turned out to be an accurate.

Individuals were interviewed at length over the phone around a set of questions crafted to bring out how the company was formed, when and by whom and some of the challenges they overcame along the way. And each success profile described their plans for them future.

Since 1999 over 100 successful family owned companies have had their stories told on the web site at http://www.familybusinessstrategies.com/profiles/index.html

Representing less than 1% of the web site’s content, these success profiles command over 32% of the web site’s traffic prompting the company to look for a way to expand the process.

One story, written in 2002, still accounts for 10% of all page views, with people consistently access it hundreds of times a day, demonstrating the evergreen nature of these articles.

Until recently a company had to hire outsiders to write and publish their story online for them. Now they can do it themselves.

Now business owners or their representatives can add their story directly to the blog and take advantage of the highly targeted traffic to Family Business Strategies.

Now they can contribute their story to a blog that is already established and read by people likely to be interested in their experiences and plans for the future.

Business owners with specific expertise can comment on the posts and profiles of other business owners and contribute their own insights to articles submitted by professional solution providers on the web site, adding to the discussion already taking place.

Every business owner can tell their own story and follow the progress of other businesses they admire.

Experience demonstrates that no matter where someone is in the development of their business, there are people who are behind them on their own path toward success. People want to read about experiences they can leverage and tactics they can make their own.

A simple blog post may become the opening round in a potentially never-ending dialogue between the business owner and their constituents. Other business owners seeking advice can quickly and simply add a comment to the original post and others with relevant advice to share can add their insights as well.

Blog postings and follow up comments may take on a life of their own extending well into the future to create an online peer group process.

www.iBizResources.com has been telling the stories of successful Main Street companies since 1999. Now, business owners can tell their own story via our blog at http://www.familybusinessstrategies.com/index.php/submit-a-business-profile/ by following a few simple instructions.

Successful business owners routinely look to their peers for strategic planning insights by forming strategic planning peer groups. Wayne Messick recently created a toolkit that details the process of creating, managing, and getting the greatest benefits of your own self-directed strategic planning peer group.
