Your Mind is More Than Your Brain, Says Dr. Robert Almeder
(
PRLEAP.COM) Join host Alex Tsakiris when he interviews philosophy professor and author, Dr. Robert Almeder for a discussion on the science of consciousness, reincarnation research, and the logical augments for and against materialism. During the 30-minute interview Dr. Almeder suggests human consciousness is more than just brain states: “…the good news is that we can show that human minds do exist and are of a different order than physical objects as we know them. And, that seems to suggest that the whole question of minds is not a question of metaphysics or religion, it’s a question of science…”
He also explains the logical fallacy some scientists fall into when trying to explain away consciousness research: “One of the objections you’ll often hear is that it can’t happen because we don’t know how it happens… I think what you have to say is that the evidence is very strong that it does happen… you can’t deny it happens simply because you don’t understand why, or how, or for what purpose…”
