Solar power is an excellent way to cut your heating bills, but watch out for dodgy installers

(PRLEAP.COM) Billscutter, a leading UK energy-switching company, has responded to recent bad press about the solar panel industry. In particular those articles questioning it’s payback and warning people against the growing risk of being ripped off by cowboy solar water heating installers.

In an article "Can you cut your bills with Solar Heating?" Billscutter investigated whether solar water heating panels could save on heating bills. The answer was a clear yes, but with the proviso that care was taken in selecting the panel supplier and installer.

Billscutter describes the sales techniques used by installers more interested in profit than the environment and gives advice on how to select the ideal installer. They go on to compare the current state of the UK’s solar heating industry to that of the double glazing industry back in the early 1980’s.

The greatest savings were stated as coming from solar heating installations that displaced the use of heating oil!
