MANZANILLO, Mexico (May 18, 2005) – Award-winning all-suite Kármina Palace is pleased to announce the appointment of an internationally acclaimed chef to spice up the resort’s menus.

The AAA Four Diamond resort brings on Bavarian chef Christoph Angermeier, who has more than 20 years of resort experience creating culinary masterpieces in the high-end travel and leisure industry. Angermeier worked as a chef for 12 years with Hilton International hotel group in Holland, Brazil, and Puerto Rico, and most recently spent eight years with Super Clubs in Cuba and Jamaica.

Naturally, his worldly travels have seasoned the eclectic and creative menu at Karmina’s three onsite restaurants with dynamic flavors that embody Kármina Palace’s concept as a world-class resort that mixes international cultures. The property is modeled after Mayan pyramids but contains art pieces from the entire globe, including stone statues imported from China in the aptly-named Buddha Garden.

“My cooking can be described as a fusion between the Latin American and Oriental kitchen with some European and gourmet dishes,” Angermeier says. He is especially proud of the French apple tart dessert and a seafood trio of grouper, shrimp and salmon served with wild rice that is served at the Carioca a la carte restaurant found under a soaring thatched roof on a cliff overlooking the sea.

Taco Bar adds another relaxed dining and snacking option

In addition to the new gourmet menu available at Carioca, which includes a roasted red pepper cream soup and variety of seafood dishes, Kármina has something to please Mexican food lovers during the day: a brand new Taco Bar right on the beach.

The outdoor self-serve buffet serves hamburgers, fries, hot dogs and traditional tacos with all the fixings from 1 to 5 p.m. and is the perfect alternative for guests who want a quick bite but don’t want to wander far from their lounge chair.

As always, buffet lunch service continues at The Grill, situated amid the action and the eight interconnected swimming pools, and at Carioca restaurant overlooking the bay where a la carte lunch dining takes a casual spin to the usual upscale atmosphere. And the 24-hour room service with its expansive menu of hot and cold dishes ensures no one ever has to go hungry.
