Dr. Chandra Kumar Joins SMARTANALYST as Senior Research Director for Life Sciences

NEW YORK – May 23, 2007 – SMARTANALYST, Inc. announced today that Dr. Chandra Kumar, a 21-year veteran in scientific research, will help lead the company’s life sciences research team. SMARTANALYST – a pioneer in providing outsourced strategic research and analytics products and services – appointed Dr. Kumar as senior research director, life sciences. Dr. Kumar will help SMARTANALYST’s bio-pharmaceutical clients evaluate therapeutic research and pharmaceutical product opportunities from both a scientific and business perspective. Dr. Kumar will report to Marc Rovner who, as the company recently announced, joined SMARTANALYST as managing director and was formerly vice president of global new markets in Pfizer’s Consumer Healthcare Division.

Dr. Kumar has served a consultant to SMARTANALYST since September, 2006. Prior to that, he worked for 21 years at Schering-Plough Research Institute (SPRI), most recently serving as research fellow and associate director. His work at SPRI focused on oncology research and he served as project leader for several oncology drug discovery projects. Dr. Kumar has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals and has frequently presented at scientific meetings. He served as a member of the American Cancer Society’s peer review committee on cancer drug development. Dr. Kumar earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Bangalore University and a doctorate in biochemistry from the Indian Institute of Science. He received post-doctoral training at M.I.T. and Roche Institute of Molecular Biology prior to joining Schering-Plough.
