MEDFORD, Oregon—Beginning with the July-August 2007 issue, Stephanie Michaels—known to fans around the world as Adventure Girl—will join the Affluent magazine writing team as Senior Travel Editor.

In this role, Michaels will motivate readers to explore the world with exclusive and exciting travel tips, and provide excerpts of her many exploits as she fulfills her personal travel and adventure dreams.

With a goal to become the Martha Stewart of travel, Michaels makes appearances all over the world, and has shared her experiences with such media outlets as FOX News, CNN, ABC and NBC. She recently released the first in a series of books titled Adventure Girl’s Guide to Finding Adventure… without Breaking a Nail.

According to Affluent Editor-In-Chief D. W. Allen, Michaels is the right fit and flavor for the luxury lifestyle magazine. “We share an interest in the unusual, the upscale and the outrageous,” he explains. “With Stefanie’s enthusiasm and her ability to communicate well, she will take Affluent readers on written adventures of a lifetime, adding a whole new dimension to the magazine.”

In the upcoming issue of Affluent, readers learn how Michaels got her start as an actress, model and Internet icon. They will learn how the California native earned the title of Adventure Girl, and what she does to live up to that name.

Then, in the July-August issue, Adventure Girl will share her real-life experiences with the Las Vegas Zero Gravity Corporation, the first and only FAA-approved provider of commercial weightless flights. With celebrities and passengers on board, a modified Boeing 727 will rise 32,000 feet at a sharp angle. As the plane climbs, Michaels, Buzz Alderin and other VIPS will feel 1.8 times the normal pull of the Earth. The group will then plunge 8,000 feet to experience 25-second snippets of zero gravity during the descent.

For Michaels, the experience at Zero Gravity is one of many opportunities she has seized as Adventure Girl. For example, this past March she competed in the first leg of the 35th Iditarod dog sled race in Anchorage, Alaska.

“Affluent is a beautiful magazine which offers a decadent outlet for people who enjoy style, travel and the best the world has to offer,” said Michaels. “What a treat that I will be able to share my experiences with readers who are adventurous in spirit and enjoy the finer things in life.”

“This partnership is a benefit to everyone involved, specifically for Affluent readers and advertisers,” adds Jill Lambert, manager of Michaels and the Adventure Girl brand. “Stefanie is an ideal person to share her adventures with readers and inspire them to take travel risks of their own. At the same time, advertisers in such categories as Travel, Lifestyle and Health and Fitness have a unique opportunity to reach their target audience.”

Affluent magazine is based in Southern Oregon but has an international scope, with feature stories that highlight things to do, places to see and products that enhance the lifestyle of the financially fit.
