Free Medications for Children from Low Income, Uninsured Families

(PRLEAP.COM) Children who are eligible for Patient Assistance Programs will be assisted free by My Free Medicine, the nation’s largest commercial processor of free medication requests, during the month of June 2007. “Usually the company bills patients $195 service fee every six months to get all eligible medications from U.S. drug companies", Geoff Hasler, CEO, MyFreeMedicine.com, LLC said.

“However, during the month of June 2007, all children eligible for medications under these Programs will be assisted free,” Hasler said.

This is part of an effort to increase awareness of Patient Assistance Programs for low income, uninsured Americans, Geoff Hasler said.

“It is a horrible fact that, today, many children are treated for very serious conditions. Many kids are terminal and doctors prescribe expensive medications. Low income, uninsured families cannot afford this burden,” Hasler said. “We hope that this initiative will assist these seriously disadvantaged kids.”

He added that many people do not know that these programs usually do not have age limits. Geoff Hasler estimates that his company has processed over 130,000 prescriptions & saved consumers about $20 million. Last year over eight million people got free brand name medications from U.S. drug companies. Over 22 million prescriptions were dispensed. Called Patient Assistance Programs, these programs literally give drugs away to eligible people every day. "Few people know that these U.S. pharmaceutical company programs exist. They help many people who otherwise may not afford drugs they need to survive," Geoff Hasler says. "We help enroll patients in over 150 different drug company programs that cover almost 2,000 different brand name medications, many life-saving."
