Bangalore, India, May 17 2005: Ness Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: NSTC), a global provider of IT services and solutions, today announced that its Managed Labs center in Bangalore, India, has been assessed at Level 3 of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for the inception, operation and stabilization of extended development centers. The appraisal was conducted by TUV Rheinland India Pvt Ltd., a member of TUV Rheinland Group, a global leader in professional services.

The CMMI model was developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University. CMMI is a process-improvement model that provides a set of best practices that address productivity, performance, costs, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Ness Managed Labs builds and operates extended development centers (EDCs) in India for leading independent software vendors (ISVs) worldwide. Ness has developed a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) delivery model that safeguards ISVs' intellectual assets and maximizes off shoring benefits. During the "build" phase, Ness provides strategic consulting to address customers' business challenges and ROI objectives. In the "operate" phase, Ness tracks progress and fine-tunes operations to meet defined goals. When an EDC becomes a self-sustaining unit, Ness offers the option of transferring the center back to the customer.

Ness Managed Labs' client base features global enterprise software vendors such as Business Objects, Portal Software, Cartesis and Chordiant Software.

"Ness assessment was a unique one, in the evaluation of the organizational practices that have uniquely interpreted and deployed the tenets of CMMI in the business of developing extended development facilities for the clientele," said Srinivas Thummalapalli, Director, Management Advisory Services and SEI authorized Lead Appraiser, of TUV Rheinland.

"The CMMI certification is a significant milestone for our business model," said Satyajit Bandyopadhyay, Chief Delivery Officer of Ness India. "This assessment means that there is an increased level of predictability to help our customers in coming to India and setting up development centers. This accomplishment will enhance our competitive positioning and give our existing customers an increased level of confidence to work with us. For potential clients, it means that they can set up their EDCs a lot quicker and better with Ness."

About the CMMI Model

Originally developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie-Mellon University, the Capability Maturity Model requires a process-based approach to the development of software, including systems engineering, software engineering and project management. CMMI has become the de-facto international standard for measuring the capability of an organization to effectively develop software. The new CMMI models continue to represent the best process improvement models available for product and service development and maintenance, and extend the best practices of the original Capability Maturity Model.
