Sedation Dentistry Certification Earned by Smile South Florida Team

(PRLEAP.COM) MIAMI, BOCA RATON and TAMARAC, Fla, – The dentists of Smile South Florida recently completed certification training in sedation dentistry practices. Oral sedation allows patients with dental phobia to relax in the hours immediately before an appointment and during treatment. One or two pills can both eliminate pain and usually ensure the patient won’t even remember the time spent in their dentist’s chair.

Dr. Kenneth Anenberg, D.M.D, and associate Dr. Charles Nottingham, D.D.S., F.A.G.D, earned certification at the conclusion of a three-day course by the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS). The course covered sedation dentistry methods and medications, and included extensive hands-on training.

A debilitating dental phobia prevents approximately 30 to 50 percent of Americans from regularly visiting their dentists. Causes include a fear of shots, the sounds and smells of the dental office, a strong gag reflex, sensitive teeth and a previous, traumatic dental experience.

“We can use sedation for all restorative procedures,” said Anenberg. “Not only is it an excellent tool to calm phobics, it’s also popular with patients who want to get more done in one visit.”

The fully accredited dentists at Smile South Florida can design a light-sedation plan specific to each patient’s needs.
