Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – (June 5, 2007) Skax, a web-based prepaid faxing service that works with Skype, officially launched its beta site today. Skax provides users the ability to securely fax digital documents to any number worldwide. Per page rates are based on the destination fax number; there are no sign up fees or monthly fees to use the Skax.

“Outside of an office environment, there are not any cost effective means for sending faxes” said Johnny Wong, Skax Founder. “As a student, I realized that I could really use this type of service – and decided Skype, with its cutting-edge technology and substantial user base, would be an ideal partner.” Before Skax, a college student needing to fax a legal document or rental contract would be faced with exorbitant per page rates. Skax provides the convenience to fax digital documents for 60-70% less then the typical office/print store as well as the ability to reach numbers internationally.

Wong, who conceived, built and launched the service, all while studying to receive his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania is proud of his accomplishment: “It wasn’t easy balancing the rigor of a Wharton MBA with the creation of Skax. At times I felt like I was drowning, but I was able to see my goals through – both academically and entrepreneurially. Skax is now taking off and I know the tools I learned at Wharton will guide me professionally going forward.”

Currently, Skax requires Skype version 3.0, and Microsoft Internet Explorer. The service, available in both English and Spanish, accommodates users providing payment from the United States or the United Kingdom. Wong and his team are furiously working on making Skax available to additional users around the globe. “The reception thus far has been far beyond my expectations. I haven’t been able to take a day off since graduation!”
